Work Safely in the Construction Industry (Whitecard)

Participants will be able to identify WH&S legislation requirements relevant to their own work, identify duty of care requirements, identify own responsibilities to comply with safe work practices, will be able to identify construction hazards and control measures including basic principles of risk management, hazard identification and control measures.

They will be able to identify WH&S communication and reporting processes including roles of designated WH&S personnel, safety signs and symbols and procedures for reporting hazards, incidents and injuries. Participants will be able to identify WH&S incident response procedures including procedures for accessing first aid, selection and use of relevant PPE and identify fire safety equipment.  

At the completion of this program successful participants will be issued with a Safe Work NSW (Workcover) approved certificate for use immediately until Whitecard issued by Safe Work NSW (Workcover).

Licence to Erect, Alter and Dismantle Scaffolding (Basic Level)

This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at the basic level, consisting of scaffolding work connected with the operation or use of modular or pre-fabricated scaffolds, cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load of 500kg, ropes and gin wheels, safety nets and static lines, and bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork) for SafeWork NSW (Workcover) licencing purposes.

Enter and Work In Confined Spaces

This course provides participants with skills and knowledge to Enter and Work in Confined Spaces. Participants will be able to:

  • Plan and prepare for working in a confined space
  • Work in a confined space
  • Exit a confined space
  • Clean up
  • Test atmospheric conditions
  • Work in accordance with issued permits
  • Undertake stand-by role

Work Zone Traffic Control - Traffic Controller Skill Set

This program provides training for personnel who are required to set up and work with Traffic Control Guidance Schemes/Traffic Control Plans at a work site.


This program does not qualify a participant to control traffic with a Stop/Slow bat, or to modify existing traffic control plans.

Operate and Maintain a 4WD

This Four Wheel Drive course caters for clients at every level of experience as well as the inexperienced. This course is activity based and the majority of time is in a practical driving situation. Your health and safety is our priority and you will learn the correct and safe procedures to follow for vehicle recovery and the safe use of snatch straps.

This unit of competency covers the following elements;

  • Identify four wheel drive specific terms, terminology and techniques
  • Plan for minimal environmental impact
  • Perform pre-departure checks
  • Use four wheel drive mode
  • Use a snatch strap to recover a vehicle
  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs on four wheel drive vehicles

Use Hand and Power Tools

This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge to safely use hand and power tools in a wide range of occupations.

It involves planning and preparing for work, selecting and using power tools and cleaning up of work area.

Combined Work Safely at Heights & Enter and Work in Confined Spaces - 1 Day

This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge to work safely at heights & enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries. It includes identifying the work requirements, work procedures, and instructions for the tasks; accessing and installing equipment, performing work at heights and cleaning up the work area.

This program is recommended to be completed on a yearly basis to ensure currency of skill and knowledge.

This course provides training for personnel who are required to design new traffic management plans and TCGS/TCP's for road works, produce major upgrades of standard plans and/or inspect traffic control plans on road construction sites.


This course does not qualify a participant to control traffic with a Stop/Slow bat or set up work with traffic control plans.

Health and Safety Representative

This 5-day HSR training program has been developed specifically for Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and OHS committee members who become HSRs under the NSW Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Under the legislation, HSRs will replace the OHS Representatives and Health and Safety Committees (HSCs) will replace OHS Committees.

The program prepares participants with the essential skills for effectively dealing with occupational health and safety issues in the workplace. This approved program will assist HSRs to gain the knowledge and skills to fulfil their role and functions under the WHS legislation.

Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck

This is a 3 day program (2 days training, plus 1 day SafeWork NSW (Workcover) assessment).

This program provides the practical skills and knowledge required to undertake the SafeWork NSW (Workcover) assessment for Forklift Licence. The program includes pre-start inspections, operation of the forklift to undertake varied tasks and general safety.

This unit specifies the outcomes required for the operation of a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachment, for licencing purposes.

Licence to Perform Dogging

This program covers competencies in the application of slinging techniques, this involves all aspects of job preparation including hazard identification and control, site preparation, selecting and inspecting equipment, assessing weight and centre of gravity and communication methods.

The participants will be trained to successfully move loads to demonstrate knowledge and skills for slinging, selecting correct equipment for tasks, communicating with the crane operator, landing loads safely and securely and shutting down the dogging task.

SafeWork NSW (Workcover) application will be issued to successful particants to apply for the High Risk licence.

Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more)

This program will provide the skills and knowledge required to operate a boom-type elevated work platform (boom length 11 metres or more). It involves the operation of a telescopic device, hinged device or articulated device that is used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work.

The program also covers planning work including hazard identification and control, selecting an appropriate elevated work platform (EWP) for the task and identifying appropriate communication methods. Participants will need to demonstrate skills to conduct routine checks on an EWP for defects, damage and safety equipment. The program also covers all work procedures associated with the safe operating and mobiling of an EWP. This includes assessing ground conditions for stability and safe positioning, safe operating of the EWP, shut down and securing of the EWP including conducting post operational checks.

Work Safely at Heights

This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries. It includes identifying the work requirements, work procedures, and instructions for the tasks; accessing and installing equipment, performing work at heights and cleaning up the work area.

This unit of competency specifies the competency required to undertake safe working practices when working at heights or depths. This course is recommended to be completed on a yearly basis to ensure currency of skill and knowledge.
